Celine + Jack · Mosteiro de Landim
Celine and Jack's wedding at Mosteiro de Landim was a three-day celebration. The first night brought guests together on a rooftop in Graça, Porto, as the city came into view at dusk. The second night was a black party at Terraplana, full of toasts, cake, and the easy, unhurried energy that defines a well-planned multi-day celebration. On the third day, the couple got ready at Torel Porto Saboaria before the wedding itself unfolded at Mosteiro de Landim, in the stone cloister of a twelfth-century monastery in northern Portugal.
The monastery itself is one of the most architecturally compelling venues in northern Portugal. The cloister, set beneath a glass ceiling and surrounded by ancient stone columns dressed in amber light, held a reception that balanced warmth and drama in a way that few spaces in the country can. Celine wore Saulee for the ceremony, a high-neck white gown with an open back that moved through the space with remarkable elegance, and changed into Dion Lee for the second look, matching her husband's Dion Lee shirt. For her second look, green cat-eye sunglasses and a black outfit against the low-key lighting of the dancefloor. Both looks were shot on film.
The entire collection was photographed on film, in color and black and white. The choice was not stylistic for its own sake. It was the right response to a wedding that had texture in every corner: the stone, the light, the architecture, the people. We photograph a maximum of ten destination weddings per year, and celebrations like Celine and Jack's are exactly why that limit exists. The entire collection was photographed on film, in color and black and white, and the three days were also captured on Super 8 — the full film is below.
The Super 8 Film · Mosteiro de Landim
Some moments move too fast for stills to hold, and Super 8 was the right choice for three days that carried so much energy across two cities and a twelfth-century monastery. The grain and warmth of the format matched the textures of the celebration itself: golden hour toasts on a Porto rooftop, the unguarded laughter of a black party at Terraplana, and candlelight moving across stone columns in the cloister at Mosteiro de Landim. Where the photographs hold a single frame, the Super 8 film carries the rhythm of the weekend, capturing the energy and motion of a wedding designed to unfold over time rather than in a single afternoon.

Planning a Wedding at Mosteiro de Landim? Questions We're Often Asked
-
Yes. Mosteiro de Landim is a privately managed event venue in northern Portugal, available for destination weddings and multi-day celebrations. The cloister, gardens, and historic interior spaces can be hired for ceremonies and receptions, and the venue works with international couples regularly. Most couples traveling from the US, UK, or Australia work with a local planner experienced in northern Portuguese venues.
-
Mosteiro de Landim is approximately 40 to 45 minutes by car from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto, making it genuinely convenient for international guests flying in. The drive north passes through the Minho region and takes you away from the city quickly into a quieter, more rural landscape.
-
The venue works particularly well for couples who want historical architecture without the formality of a palace. The stone cloister, garden spaces, and interior rooms create a setting that feels ancient and intimate at the same time. It suits multi-day celebrations — like Celine and Jack's, which began with a rooftop welcome event in Porto — and works especially well for groups that enjoy a venue with atmosphere and texture rather than a blank slate.
-
July through September offers the most reliable weather and lowest rainfall along the Cascais coast. Late May and June are equally strong for outdoor ceremonies and cliffside portraits, with cooler temperatures and fewer peak-season crowds. December works well for indoor receptions: the Atlantic light at that latitude is low and warm, and the fortress interior holds it well.

Late spring through early autumn, roughly May through September, gives you the most reliable weather in northern Portugal. May and June offer softer light and the greenest landscape, while late summer brings longer golden hours. Celine and Jack married in late May, and the light across both days, from the Porto rooftop at dusk to the monastery gardens the following afternoon, was exceptional.
If you are planning a wedding in northern Portugal, or a multi-day celebration that begins in Porto and moves out into the countryside, we would love to hear from you.
