RUI LOPES & SAVANNAH LOPES

founders & lead PHOTOGRAPHERS

Savannah is from Southern California, Rui is from Lisbon, and our story began in Portugal before becoming both a marriage and a creative partnership.

That personal history shapes how we photograph weddings. We understand what it means to plan across countries, bring families together in a new place, and trust a creative team to preserve not only how everything looked, but how it felt.

On a wedding day, Savannah brings an instinct for styling, atmosphere and emotional detail. Rui brings calm direction, technical precision and a quiet ability to read a room. Together, we create work that feels editorial without losing the real energy of the celebration.

SOME THINGS WE LOVE

Beyond weddings, our shared eye is shaped by travel, architecture, interiors, fashion, quiet mornings, long walks, good coffee, and places with a strong sense of atmosphere.

Savannah is drawn to design, styling, music, and details that feel personal rather than expected. Rui is drawn to movement, light, observation, and the kind of calm presence that allows people to feel at ease in front of the camera.

Together, we are most inspired by celebrations that feel considered, personal, and alive — never overly staged, never generic.

Between the both of us, we speak/understand: English, Portuguese, spanish, French & Hindi

Why We Understand Destination Weddings Personally

Before photographing destination weddings for couples around the world, we planned one ourselves — across cultures, countries and families.

1. A FIRST LOOK, QUIETLY WITNESSED

We had our first look at Estancia La Jolla Hotel, with our bridesmaids and groomsmen watching from afar — intimate, emotional, and quietly shared with the people closest to us.

2. A FATHER & DAUGHTER FIRST LOOK

Savannah shared an emotional first look with her dad before the ceremony — a less expected moment that left everyone watching in tears.

3. A CEREMONY BETWEEN CULTURES

In La Jolla, Rui said his vows in both English and Portuguese — a personal detail that brought our cultures, families, and story into the ceremony.

4. PORTRAITS IN THE FIELD & FOREST

After the ceremony, we stepped away for portraits in an open field and forest — quiet, romantic, and just enough space to feel like ourselves.

5. A MOROCCAN-PORTUGUESE RECEPTION

Our reception brought together Moroccan and Portuguese details, inspired by where our story began and the places that shaped us.

We served Mexican food, homemade European-style desserts, and chose a lounge instead of a traditional bride-and-groom table so the evening felt more relaxed and connected.

6. FOR OUR FIRST DANCE

Savannah recorded an acoustic version of “If I Ain’t Got You” as a surprise for Rui — a first dance that became personal before he even realized it was her voice.

Our Approach

Our approach is guided, calm and intentional.

We believe wedding photography should feel elevated without becoming performative. We direct when direction is needed, step back when the atmosphere carries the moment, and pay close attention to the architecture, light, styling and emotional rhythm of the day.

For us, editorial wedding photography is not about forcing a wedding to look like a campaign. It is about noticing what already has presence — the setting, the people, the movement, the quiet tension before the ceremony, the energy after dinner — and shaping it into a visual story that feels refined, honest and unmistakably yours.

We ARE SO EXCITED YOU'RE HERE!
