Weddings We Have Photographed in Lisbon
Grémio Literário
Catherine and Theodore were married at Igreja dos Cardais, then held their reception at this private literary club, founded in 1846. Every room had its own atmosphere, from the green library to the chandelier-lit dining room. Their wedding was published in Vogue Australia Weddings. See the wedding.
"As an American bride planning a wedding in Lisbon from afar, their helpfulness and determination to get what I wanted for the wedding was forever memorable to me and my family." Catherine
Palácio de Tancos
Baylee and Chad's three-day wedding opened with a rooftop welcome cocktail, continued with a party by the pool, and ended with the ceremony and reception at the palace. The history of this house begins in 1539, and it survived the 1755 earthquake with its tiles intact. See the wedding.
Pestana Palace
Trinity and Elijah's intimate wedding took place in the gardens of this restored 19th-century palace above the Tagus, followed by a candlelit dinner in its wood-paneled dining room. The palace and its gardens are both classified as National Monuments. See the wedding.
La Distillerie
Abbey and Matt had a first look, an outdoor ceremony, and their reception in this former distillery on a patio in Alfama, between the castle and the river. It is a good example of how much one well-used city venue can hold, from morning light to the last dance. See the wedding.
Estufa Fria
Giorgia and James were married among the tropical plants of this garden greenhouse in Parque Eduardo VII, which opened to the public in 1933. A slatted roof softens the daylight before it reaches the ground. We photographed the whole wedding on film. See the wedding.
Palácio de Queluz
Just outside Lisbon, Hessah and Ali were married in the gardens of this 18th-century royal palace. Their wedding was published in Vogue Arabia. See the wedding.
Editorial work in Lisbon
We also shot That's Gucci, a fashion editorial at 138 Liberdade, and an editorial at Palácio Ludovice. For more places to marry in the city, see our guide to wedding venues in Lisbon.
Why Lisbon Photographs the Way It Does
Lisbon gives you variety at close range. In one day you can move between a tiled church, a street of pastel facades, a private salon, and a terrace above the Tagus without spending the afternoon in a car. The hills create sightlines at almost every turn, and limestone, azulejos, and old wood all hold warm light in a way that suits film especially well.
The light is the main thing to plan around. Between noon and late afternoon in summer, it can be hard and flat, so we use courtyards and interiors in those hours and keep portraits for later in the day.
The Best Months for a Wedding in Lisbon
May, June, and September give the best balance of warm days, little rain, and long evening light. Lisbon averages between two and six rain days in each of those months. July and August are the warmest and driest, and they work well with a later ceremony. October averages 8.7 rain days, and November and December around 10, so those months need a venue that works indoors.
On September 15, 2027, sunset in Lisbon is at 7:45 pm, and on June 15 it is at 9:02 pm. These figures come from our month-by-month guide, which uses official data from IPMA, Portugal's national weather institute.
How We Work in Lisbon
We visit your venue before the wedding, even when we know it, ideally with your planner or with you, to see the places planned for the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the portraits at the right time of day. Then we write our own photography timeline. On the day, Savannah stays with the bride and Rui with the groom while you get ready, and we split up afterward so that one of us can be with you while the other covers your guests.
Our coverage starts from 10 hours. Every collection includes film and digital, and Super 8 can be added to any collection. You receive sneak peeks within 24 to 72 hours, and your full gallery in 3 to 3.5 months. You can read more on our services page.
For Couples from the US
Lisbon is the easiest city in Portugal to reach from the US. Delta flies nonstop from New York JFK and American from Philadelphia, both year-round, and TAP Air Portugal flies nonstop from several US cities. Savannah is from Southern California, so one of us has been where you are, planning across the Atlantic.
Passports, entry rules, and the time to arrive are in the US section of our destination wedding timeline. If you plan to marry legally here, see our legal requirements guide.
Questions About a Lisbon Wedding Photographer
How much does a wedding photographer in Lisbon cost?
It depends on experience and coverage, and our cost guide sets out the market. Our collections start at €10,000, with VAT and travel within Portugal included.
How far in advance should we book?
Twelve to eighteen months is the strongest window, and eighteen to twenty-four for a full weekend or a peak-season Saturday. If your date is sooner, write to us anyway.
Will you photograph at a Lisbon venue that is not on this page?
Yes. We visit every venue before the wedding, including the ones we know well, and we build the photography timeline around that visit.
Can you work with our wedding planner?
Yes. We have worked with planners based in Lisbon and with others who travel for destination weddings, including The Wedding Wonderland and Tudo é Festa. We build the timeline together well before the wedding.
Can we have film or Super 8?
Every collection includes film and digital, and you can add Super 8 to any collection. If you already have a photographer and a video team, Super 8 can be booked on its own, starting from €3,000.
Do historic venues in Lisbon restrict photography?
Some do, especially churches and publicly managed buildings. We ask about it when we visit, so it is settled before the day.
