A Wedding at Palácio de Queluz, Portugal

Hessah and Ali's wedding at Palácio de Queluz was one of the most architecturally considered destination weddings we have photographed in Portugal. The 18th-century palace, one of the finest examples of Rococo architecture in Europe and a royal residence just outside Lisbon, provided a frame that few venues in the world can match. The celebration brought together Middle Eastern refinement and European grandeur with rare precision.

Hessah wore Elié Saab bridal, her look completed with Manolo Blahnik heels. The florals, designed by Ely Flowers, wove together tones that felt at once opulent and considered. The planning and full creative direction was led by Weddings by Rebecca, whose expertise in luxury destination weddings for South Asian and Middle Eastern couples made her the natural choice for a celebration of this scale. The images were published in Vogue Arabia.

We photographed the day on digital and film. The architecture of Queluz lends itself to both: the formal gardens and Rococo facades work beautifully in the long shadows of late afternoon, while the candlelit interiors reward the slower exposure and grain of analogue.

If you are planning a destination wedding in Portugal and are looking for photographers who understand how to work within the architecture and light of historic royal venues, we would be glad to hear from you.

Planning a Wedding at Palácio de Queluz? Questions We're Often Asked

  • A: Yes. The palace gardens and select interior spaces can be hired for ceremonies and receptions through Parques de Sintra. Most international couples work with a planner experienced in Portuguese historic venues.

  • A: Late afternoon, when the light falls across the Rococo facades and the gardens come into full shadow. We planned Hessah and Ali's portrait session around this window, and the conditions were exactly right.

  • Venue hire typically starts around €36.000+VAT with full weddings at this scale generally ranging from €80.000 to €350.000+ depending on guest count and production. As photographers who have worked here, we are happy to share planning insights during a call.
