Ekta and Ryan's celebration at Fortaleza do Guincho unfolded across three days, each with its own mood and intention. The Mehndi ceremony, the Atlantic pool party, and the wedding day were designed as separate chapters of the same story, with the coastal fortress holding all of it together.
Fortaleza do Guincho sits on the cliffs of the Guincho coastline, 30 kilometers west of Lisbon, within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. The 16th-century fortress, now a Relais & Châteaux hotel, faces the open Atlantic with no horizon between the building and the ocean. It holds around 120 guests for a seated dinner, which gives every celebration here a rare sense of containment. Nothing about this venue is generic.
For the ceremony, a floral mandap was built on the terrace overlooking the sea. Groomsmen carried a flower canopy as Ekta was brought in. The garland exchange, the layered rituals, the embroidered lehenga, and the henna, all of it placed within a 16th-century Atlantic fortress. The combination produces images we cannot produce anywhere else in Portugal, and Ekta and Ryan gave us three full days to make them.
The wedding was planned and coordinated by Weddings by Rebecca, whose experience with South Asian and Middle Eastern destination weddings was essential at a venue like Guincho. Florals were by Decorelle. Ekta's ceremony looked included traditional jewellery and a red lace veil. Her evening gown was Versace. We photograph a maximum of ten weddings per year, and Ekta and Ryan's was one of those ten.

July through September offers the most reliable weather and lowest rainfall along the Cascais coast. Late May and June are equally strong for outdoor ceremonies and cliffside portraits, with cooler temperatures and fewer peak-season crowds. December works well for indoor receptions: the Atlantic light at that latitude is low and warm, and the fortress interior holds it well.
