With both of these long-time lovers being from Illinois, USA they wanted their day to be intimate & for THEM. With just their closest friends, they chose Lisbon to share with them their 1 out of 2 special days. Portugal, more so Sintra, is close to their hearts as Michael originally planned on proposing to Amy near Praia da Ursa in Sintra, but because of COVID, things had to be changed. However, they didn't allow that to stop them from having their day somewhere that was special to them. Due to family circumstances, they had to opt for having their ceremony at the hotel Palácio Verride Santa Catarina to ensure they had internet at all times BUT, what was such a treasure was that Amy surprised Michael with the coordinates of the original proposal/ceremony spot embroidered on pieces of her two wedding dresses for him to be able to have sewn on his suit later on. AHHH… this was so touching. This day will be dear to our hearts, not to mention how gorgeous the whole day was. In our minds, we may be reliving this Verride Palácio de Santa Catarina luxury elopement!
